On September 16th, the Pl@ntNet team organized an online training session for French-speaking audiences that brought together 130 participants around two new tools joining the Pl@ntNet ecosystem: GeoPl@ntNet and Pl@ntNet Plots. These digital tools, developed within the framework of the GUARDEN, MAMBO, and Pl@ntAgroEco projects, aim to support research as well as the broader management of plant biodiversity.
The diversity of participant profiles highlights the growing interest in these innovative solutions: 20% from consulting firms, 35% from the research sector, and 45% from land management. This balance illustrates the complementarity between knowledge production, applied expertise, and operational management.
The session was led by Pierre Bonnet, with a technical demonstration by Thomas Paillot during the presentation of Pl@ntNet Plot, which is still in beta. This tool, designed to analyze large-scale images and contextualize each identified plant, opens up new perspectives for ecological monitoring.
The first part of the afternoon allowed participants to discover and explore GeoPl@ntNet, already available online, and its interactive mapping features. The second session then introduced Pl@ntNet Plots, with the opportunity for interested participants to request access via this online form.
The enthusiasm generated by this training confirms the importance of organizing accessible, interactive, and community-building events to support the French-speaking community engaged in plant biodiversity.
